Chart Study Group - focus on family

Thursday, October 25, 2018, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Second Cup Coffee, 64 New Street · Birmingham

Hosted by Eva

Please RSVP through (free to join).

No matter how many astrology books we read, nothing can replace the practice of reading charts. That's why I'd like to gather together a small study group where we do just that, focusing on one topic at a time.

This is intended for people with some understanding of astrology but it could also be a good way to learn so beginners are welcome.

The topic of the first meeting will be families of origin, the circumstances of the home life, the presence or absence of parent figures and siblings, their characteristics and relationships between them as reflected in the natal chart.

If you feel open to discussing your own chart with the group, your live feedback about the interpretations would be very valuable but it is not necessary and you are welcome to bring any chart that you find interesting or relevant to the topic. Knowledge of the person's biography will help and please ask for permission where possible. I will bring a handful of examples as well.

If you have astrological software on your phone, tablet or other portable device, please bring it along. Alternatively, print out any charts you want to study or have the date, place and time of birth ready.

The cafe is on New Street near Victoria Square.

Who we are

A group for anyone interested in astrology. Everyone is welcome, no previous knowledge needed. We have regular socials as well as offer a programme of workshops where you can learn the basics or explore an aspect of astrology in depth.

The socials typically have a topic followed by general discussion. There's always space to have your questions answered by astrologers or get a mini reading of your chart. If you're a seasoned chart reader yourself your contribution will help us all learn which is one of the objectives of the group. We often bring Tarot cards as well.

Whether you are a professional astrologer or someone who's always wondered what it's all about but never got round to finding out, we look forward to meeting you!
Find us on Facebook and Meetup.

Are you an intuitive?

If you've taken a Myers-Briggs type test like the one at 16 personalities website and scored an N for intuitive, you probably know it can be difficult to find others with a similar cognitive style. In our group we have an INFJ, ENFJ and INFP so if you come along to one of our meetups you will be in good company.

An Astrology Workshop

There are no new meetings planned at the moment but here's an offer of an astrology workshop taught by Eva, one of the group members:

Introduction to Chart Reading

28 July 2 - 4pm at Zen Digbeth, 162 High Street, Deritend, Birmingham, B12 0LD

This workshop will give an overview of three basic building blocks of a horoscope: houses and hemispheres, sign elements and sign modalities. These have been chosen because analysing and combining them provides an outline of the personality behind the chart.

I will explain the three topics using hand-illustrated diagrams. Participants will be able to take these home as a printed handout. I will demonstrate each topic on an example chart and in the last part of the workshop we will analyse several charts together, applying the new information in practice.

The workshop is suitable for beginners, no previous knowledge of astrology needed. Those with some understanding may find a fresh new angle on the basics.
